Studying Poetry With Your Family
Poetry is defined as, “literary work in which special intensity is given to the expression of feelings and ideas by the use of distinctive style and rhythm; poems collectively or as a genre of literature.”
In short, a poem is something that is easily said in plain words, but not easily felt or expressed with plain words.
I believe that poetry study is an extremely important part of literature to learn.
Today, I want to share with you our Annual Family Poetry Guide.
Studying Poetry All Year
Our Annual Poetry guide, called “Love at Home’s Guide to Poems,” is a guide that we hope helps you and your children see the value in poetry.
There is one poem for each week of the year, and they are all themed.
The themes that we have are:
Spring, Nature, Summer, Autumn, Imagination, Winter and Journey.
With each poem comes a craft or two, vocabulary, an author bio, drawing and writing prompts, as well as new kinds of poetry to write along with each theme.
Incorporating Poetry Through the Seasons
As of today, we have also released a Christmas poetry guide add on; as well as we will be releasing some themes individually for your convenience!!
We believe that poetry speaks to the heart, the mind, and the soul- it is a trifecta of beauty, understanding, and love!
Your child will learn to love poetry, understand it, write it, and want more of it.
The way that these “weekly lessons” are laid out, is for ultimate discovery.
