Planning and Prepping for a 6 Week Homeschool Term

Planning and Prepping for a 6 Week Homeschool Term | What we do between terms to put away the last term, and get the next term set up!

We spent the last week on Instagram talking about how we take our homeschool term down and put it back up! So we thought a recap on the blog was in order.

1- What do we do when a term ends in our homeschool?

#2- What do we do with used schoolwork?

What do we do with all of their finished work when a term ends? Keep reading to find out! 👇🏻

1. Get everything out of the school cart and onto the table.
2. Organize things into piles: trash, keeping, and doesn’t belong in the cart at all.
3. Then, organize the keep pile into: Trello, physical portfolio, unused items, and continuing to use items. (Like things we are still working on or using)
4. Next, I’ll make sure everything for their physical portfolio is in their physical portfolio! Sometimes I put it on top of the filing cabinet. Like… this year I’ve been super bad about it. 😂😂 #newbaby
5. With the Trello items, I take pictures of all of them- throw them away, and then upload all pictures to @trelloapp.
6. The stuff we are still using (history notebook, poetry, planners) goes back into the school cart!
7. The unused items either go into our filing cabinets, or the school cart, depending on whether we are going to use them for the next term or not!

#3- Day 3- How do we plan a term?

Day 3 of homeschool planning between terms!! I have so much info to share, it’s sooo hard to make these videos shorter 😂

#4- What do we do on our off week?

Now, to plan for the week of our first term!!

I bet you didn’t know that a homeschool plan can be even MORE effective if you plan for changes 🤯

But it’s true. There are 2 kinds of planning I SWEAR BY, and they are:
✨ Contingency planning. Planning for changes! Planning for spontaneity. Plan for things to go wrong, and plan for more room when things go right!!
✨ Reverse planning. This means I write down what we DID, not what we HAVE to get done!! And it is a GAME CHANGER.

What about you? Have you ever tried these types of plans?

Do you Sunday plan? And if not, what do you do instead?
